Trader’s plans for former Tory HQ

A BUSINESSMAN is set to transform a former Conservative Party HQ into an Asian clothing store.

Planning officials from Burnley Council have given the go-ahead for Nazqiat Ali to transform the old St Andrew's Club on Colne Road.

Mr Ali, of Hart Street, Burnley, hopes to attract a number of customers to the grade II listed club, which has been empty for some time.

He told planners: "I have been running a shop for the last six years and I have confidence in running a business on my own."

Mr Ali has sought to allay potential fears about car parking, as his prospective new store is opposite the new Lidl store on Colne Road, with its own car park, and there are a number of bays nearby.

He plans to rip out the old bar area at the club and replace it with a till and counter for cutting fabrics, prior to them being sold.

Right...take a deep breath Phil and r-e-l-a-x...

Where exactly in the above story does it mention council funding for this project? It's a businesman opening a business. I guess you and all your mates are too busy doing crack off bin lids to show similar enterprise eh?

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good bigoted rant eh dopey Phil?

Phil

Where is the story does it say that the council will be giving him a grant. If 'your' so called community actually cared for this building, they would have done something about it, as it has been on the market for over 12 months.

Like all typical people nowadays, get off ur backside and do something about it, before making stupid comments

I fail to see how this is a 'news story' - people every day open businesses etc.

I can only see this as the Lancashire Telegraph attempting to stir things...

It could have been another take away or restaurant. This idea could bring some more people into the area which can only help local traders.
